Current Dartmouth Outing Club president Mallory Byrd ’19 announced the new directorate for the club on Wednesday night via email. The directorate of the DOC is composed of a president, vice presidents and treasurer. The elected members will replace the current directorate this spring.

A new Domino’s Pizza restaurant will open in Hanover on 73 South Main Street, behind the Irving Gas station. The site will undergo a renovation once the town of Hanover issues a building permit, according to Keith Bell, who owns Domino’s franchises in Claremont, West Lebanon, Montpelier, Vermont and St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

On Jan. 2, Marc and Patty Milowsky sold Jesse’s Steak, Seafood & Tavern and Molly’s Restaurant to Anthony Barnett, director of operations at Blue Sky Restaurant Group, and his wife, Erin Barnett, according to Marc Milowsky. Blue Sky Restaurant Group is the umbrella entity under which Jesse’s and Molly’s both operate.

Last October, 31 female Dartmouth students traveled to Orlando, Florida to attend the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration, the largest gathering of female technologists in the world. Around 18,000 women participated in this year’s conference, which featured career workshops, panel discussions and keynote presentations.

The 4th annual Hanover Area Restaurant Week brought special menus and discounts to local restaurants from Dec. 2 to Dec. 10. Organized by the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, the promotional event aimed to introduce Upper Valley residents to restaurants in Hanover and Norwich.

Five students enrolled in Engineering Sciences 89, “Engineering Design Methodology and Project Initiation” have started engineering work on a project to build a walking trail connecting the Latham Works Lane neighborhood with downtown White River Junction. ENGS 89 and ENGS 90 are the first and second unit of a two-term course sequence, respectively.

The Hanover Police Department is still investigating a spring breaking and entering incident at Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority. Although the investigation is still open, Hanover Police Chief Charlie Dennis said that all leads in the investigation have been exhausted.

The Undergraduate Finance Committee released its allocation decisions for the $1.1 million Student Activities Budget on Friday. The budget is similar to that of the previous year other than a $7,000 increase in allocation to both the Special Programs and Events Committee and the Programming Board, because of increased security measures on Green Key weekend and student event funding requests.

This year, Dartmouth Outing Club’s First-Year Trips will culminate in an overnight stay at the McLane Family Lodge at the Dartmouth Skiway because the construction of the new Moosilauke Ravine Lodge will not be completed in time.

On May 13, over 170 Dartmouth students, faculty and Upper Valley community members participated in the annual Tuck Runs for Veterans. This fundraising event aimed to help the Veterans Education and Research Association of Northern New England, a nonprofit based in White River Junction, purchase a wheelchair-accessible van that can transport local veterans to events in the Upper Valley and surrounding areas.

From late afternoon to midnight, custodial squad leader Mickey Tyler can be found working to ensure cleanliness and security of many buildings on campus including Collis Center, the Class of 1953 Commons and Parkhurst Hall. Tyler arrived at Dartmouth in 1994 after spending over 20 years driving trucks, backhoes and bulldozers as a construction worker. He was honored at the 2014 Service Awards Banquet for his 20 years of service for Dartmouth, as one of the most experienced custodians at the College.

Recent discussion regarding Native American studies professor N. Bruce Duthu ’80’s appointment as the next dean of the faculty of arts and sciences has elicited controversy. On May 3, economics professor Alan Gustman sent out a faculty-wide email addressing Duthu’s co-authorship of a 2013 declaration supporting a boycott of Israeli academic institutions. He signed onto the declaration, titled “Declaration of Support for the Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions,” as the treasurer of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, a position he held from 2012 to 2015.

When Dartmouth Dining Services employee Eric Lemieux was not at work last winter, he trained six days a week to prepare for three different snowshoeing events in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria. After 12 days of competition in the Games, the world-class athlete returned to the College on March 30 with a bronze medal, a sixth place ribbon and a participation ribbon.
