After No. 12 Dartmouth’s (8-1, 5-1 Ivy) monumental victory last week versus Princeton University at Yankee Stadium, head coach Buddy Teevens ’79 reminded his team that the season was not over, that winning the Ivy League required one more victory. The first opportunity would come against Cornell University (3-6, 2-4 Ivy) at home — a game in which the Big Green would be heavily favored. Teevens, however, was not writing off the Big Red.
In a rematch of last year’s national championship final, Harvard University edged Dartmouth women’s rugby out of a chance to defend its 2018 title by a single point on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge.
Breaking a 32-year drought of season-opener road wins and ending an opponent’s 26-game home win streak is one way to start the season. With its first season-opening road win in more than three decades, the Big Green men’s basketball team came out on top against the University of Buffalo on Friday, 68-63. While a 17-point lead fell to one in the second half, the Big Green kept its composure to hold the advantage against the Bulls.
Nov. 5 marked the start of the college basketball season, objectively the greatest sports season in America.

In its 17 games dating back to the start of last season, No. 13 Dartmouth football is 16-1. No. 9 Princeton University football is 17-0. The one loss separating these two teams? The Tigers’ 14-9 defeat over the Big Green last November.
The annual Big Green Invite this weekend concluded the fall season of the women’s tennis team. Dartmouth hosted Yale University, the University of Massachusetts and St. John’s University in round robin play, finishing 11-14 in singles and 4-6 in doubles.
This weekend, the men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Van Cortlandt Park in New York to compete in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The men’s and women’s teams both finished eighth overall at the competition.
The men’s soccer team traveled to Cambridge last weekend to for an in-conference match-up with Harvard University. The contest ended 3-1 in the Big Green’s favor, awarding the team another three points in the Ivy League standings.
The men’s hockey team opened its season with two tough road losses to Harvard University and the University of New Hampshire.

In sports, every successful season comes with its fair share of breaks, and the No. 14 Dartmouth football team certainly got one of its own on Saturday in Cambridge.
Dartmouth women’s hockey (0-2) fell 4-2 to the University of Vermont (4-1-4) in an away game on Tuesday night. Last week, the Big Green lost 7-4 in its season opening match-up against Harvard University.
The women’s hockey team fell in its season opener to Eastern College Athletic Conference and Ivy League rival Harvard University on Friday. The Big Green relinquished three goals in the first eight minutes of play and were never able to even the score in an eventual 7-4 defeat.
Dartmouth women’s soccer’s hard-fought battle with Columbia University this past Saturday ended in a stalemate after double overtime. The teams parted ways with a goal each, resulting in the Big Green’s first tie of the season and its first point in Ivy League play.
Effective defense and quick saves from the Dartmouth men’s soccer team kept Columbia University off the board in its game on Saturday night, finishing with a scoreless draw in double overtime. The Big Green is now in a three-way tie for second place in the conference with a 2-1-1 record.
Women’s rugby defeated Harvard University 41-22 on Saturday afternoon to claim its fourth Ivy League rugby championship, improving its fall season record to 3-2.
After Dartmouth’s 49-7 victory over Marist College last week, wide receiver Drew Estrada ’20 did not overlook the importance of the Big Green’s upcoming games.
