Each week, Dartbeat asks a group of musically inclined students to recommend their favorite songs of the week. We then share a few of those tracks. Enjoy!

Hailee Steinfeld – Love Myself

Koryn Ternes: You might recognize Hailee Steinfeld from her Academy Award-nominated performance in “True Grit” (2010) or from her more recent role in “Pitch Perfect 2” (2015). Now Steinfeld is expanding her talents and diving headfirst into the music industry. Her first single, "Love Myself," was released in August and has already put young star on the radar of music fans. This song is all about self-empowerment, and it's uplifting beat will turn around any bad day.

Halsey – New Americana

Jill Dayneka: “New Americana” is the hit single from newcomer Halsey. With one EP under her belt from 2014, her debut album "Badlands" only dropped last month. "New Americana" is an indie pop hit that highlights Halsey's vocal range, and it’s definitely worth a listen.

Giorgio Moroder ft. Kylie Minogue – Right Here, Right Now

Maya Poddar: This is a powerhouse of a pop song. Its got Giorgio Moroder’s synth-heavy, vaguely throaty backbeat and Kylie Minogue’s pop princess (queen?) vocals. The lyrics of “Right Here, Right Now” are perfectly vapid. The focus of the song rests more on the end-of-summer feel the sound palette evokes than the specifics of what is being said (or sung). I unabashedly love this entire album. “Right Here, Right Now” should be put into heavy rotation this fall.
