Pale Honey — Over Your Head

Koryn Ternes: I’m slowing it down this week with this simple track from the Swedish duo, Pale Honey. “Over Your Head” is the opening track on their new, self-titled debut album. The two have been making music together since elementary school (!!), and while their sound has evolved over the years, they have maintained the same simplistic approach to their work. The lyrics in “Over Your Head” are on the darker side, but the underrated beat is elevated enough to keep things interesting.

Lion Babe — Treat Me Like Fire

Maya Poddar: Everyone is going to be hearing more about Lion Babe very soon. The duo is comprised of Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman, and man are they good. I could have recommended their more recent track, “Jump Hi” featuring Childish Gambino, but I’m sure you’ll hear it around. “Treat Me Like Fire” was one of their earliest YouTube releases, and it demonstrates the inherent quality of Lion Babe. It really is a gorgeous, rich track.

Betty Who — Glory Days

Samantha Webster: One of my good friends played this in the car for me on the morning of Pigstick, and it immediately became a staple of the soundtrack to the best days of spring. It's one of those songs that just makes you want to bounce around or put the windows down and drive a few loops around Occom and down Webster Ave. It's also particularly pertinent if you, like me, are graduating in a few weeks, because it's always good to have a reminder that these are the glory days and that we should make the most of the handful we have left.

Kaskade — 4 AM

Tiantian Zhang: Rarely do I stay up until 4 in the morning — regardless of whether it's due to academic rigor or social activities — so the moments when I do find myself awake at 4 a.m. are generally pretty special. Last night was one of those rare and unexpected moments, when all of my restlessness culminated in this grand desire to explore and live and do something exciting. I never actually made it out of my bed (too comfy, sorry not sorry), but I put on this song and lived vicariously through the light beat and the gentle vocals that guided me on a journey to a more carefree world. Kaskade wraps the listener in this beautifully peaceful and happy haze — you'll feel like you're bundled in an ethereal cocoon of tranquility and rejuvenation. Perfect calm tune to put you in a relaxed mood if you're up at 4 a.m. finishing a paper or finishing planning an adventure.
