Laundry bag theft reported according to campus-wide alert

A laundry bag theft from a residence hall reported to Safety and Security this afternoon has “similarities” to the reported burglary at Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority earlier this week, though at this time there is “no evidence” that the two cases are related, according to a campus-wide email from Safety and Security.

The email reported that Safety and Security responded to a report at 1:15 p.m. of a laundry bag taken from in front of a residence hall room. The bag, with “certain articles of clothing” missing, was found in a restroom in the subsequent search. Both Hanover police and Safety and Security are investigating the incident today.

Hanover Police Chief Charlie Dennis sent out a media release earlier this evening, saying that the department is “actively investigating” the burglary reported at KDE on Wednesday.

Dennis and interim Safety and Security director Keysi Montás could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information about either incident should contact Safety and Security at (603) 646-6000 or Hanover Police at (603) 643-2222.

This story will be updated as additional information is available.
