Coach Kinyon enters squash hall of fame

In a ceremony held last weekend at Princeton University, Chuck Kinyon, head coach of the Dartmouth men's tennis team, was formally inducted into the National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Association Hall of Fame.

"I am very honored and proud to be inducted into the Intercollegiate Hall of Fame," Kinyon said. "It is squash that I should be thanking for giving me the opportunity to work with terrific student athletes throughout my career at two of the great educational institutions in America, Phillips Exeter Academy and Dartmouth College."

Kinyon has been coaching Dartmouth tennis since 1983, but from 1980-1989, he also coached men's squash. During this period, he served as secretary, vice president and president of the NISRA. It was for his contributions to Dartmouth squash and the college game as a whole that he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Three others were inducted with Kinyon--player/coach Charlie Elliott, All-American Jeff Stanley and Walter S. Tomenson, Jr., an executive with NISRA sponsor Marsh and McLennon. Kinyon becomes the fifth Dartmouth representative to be named to the NISRA Hall of Fame, joining John Herrick '60, Big Green women's squash player Barbara Sands '76 and former Dartmouth coaches Aggie Kurtz and Ed Hoehn.
