Dartmouth squashes opponents

The Dartmouth squash teams had an outstanding weekend, with both the men's and women's squads winning big in all three matchups. Dartmouth rebounded from last weekend's beating from Harvard with routs of Bowdoin, Bates and Ivy foe Brown.

On Saturday, the men's and women's teams traveled to Maine to face the Bobcats of Bates and the Polar Bears of Bowdoin. The final scores were not close, with the Big Green soundly defeating the two Maine schools in both the men's and women's matches. The men routed Bowdoin, 8-1, and then went on to destroy the Bobcats by a clean 9-0 sweep. The women were spectacular, shutting out both teams, 9-0.

On Sunday, Dartmouth traveled down to Providence to face Brown. Led by freshman standout Ryan Donegan, the men won 7-2 over the Bears.

The women were even more impressive, winning 8-1. Sophomore Crosby Haynes and freshman Kelly Sennatt won tight, 3-2 matches to ensure an easy victory for the Big Green.

Women's captain Sarah West '02 said: "The women really gave it their all against Brown. They were ranked above us, and we beat them very decisively.

"Hopefully the momentum of that win will stay with us this weekend with our big match against Princeton."

The women are 9-3 overall and 2-2 in the league. The Big Green face off against Princeton and Tufts next weekend at Berry Racquet Center at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, looking to build on this weekend's success.

The men are 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference. They will host two Ivy League foes in Princeton and Penn next Saturday and Sunday. Both matches will commence at 2 p.m.
