Ben Stiller’s ‘Tropic Thunder’ offends some, delights many
In the days leading up to the release of “Tropic Thunder,” several watchdog organizations have urged a boycott of the film, citing its liberal use of the word “retard” as hurtful and demeaning. I find myself surprised by this reaction. After all, “Tropic Thunder” is offensive not just to the mentally challenged but also to blacks, Jews, Asians, fat people, Eddie Murphy, Vietnam veterans and most everybody else.
